The IMPACT program is a therapeutics based program. Utilizing recent brain research, therapies and technologies, IMPACT offers an educational and therapeutic program designed to improve the student's perceptual capabilities and cognitive processing through neurological stimulation. We treat the body as a whole. The program addresses the auditory-visual-vestibular triad through the body utilizing a variety of therapeutics to enhance brain organization and integration.
The IMPACT program uses a multi-sensory curriculum that addresses the different learning styles of the students. The curriculum and assessment methods used by the teacher are able to be modified to focus on the dominate learning style of the student. A social skills curriculum is integrated into the daily program of the students. All curriculum is taught from a biblical worldview. Our students participate in school wide service projects, sports, extracurricular classes and school programs.
Each student is assessed prior to entering the program. Educational testing is completed by school staff. Classroom observation, parent comments, student work samples, previous teacher's comments, and any previous testing are reviewed. Placement decisions are made considering all of the information compiled on the student. Futher assessment is gathered after the student has been accepted into the program. This testing is used for therapeutic planning. A pshcho-educational battery is administered by an educational psychologist, a Central Auditory Processing assessment is administered by a qualified audiologist, and a visual processing assessment is administered by a developmental or behavioral optometrist.
