Thompson To Lead Lady Seahawks Basketball In 2013-2014
Thompson: “I look forward to building on a successful, growing program at Silverdale by continuing the school’s mission of discipleship, excellence and integrity. Our coaching staff and teams represent Silverdale throughout the Tennessee Valley and we will build on the standards and expectations of our student athletes on the court and in the classroom as well. We have a group of quality, lady athletes at Silverdale who love the Lord and are seeking His best in their lives. Our mission as educators and coaches is to help them on that journey.” "We are excited at SBA to have Tim as our head ladies basketball coach. I have been blessed to have worked with him for 3 years in the Athletic Department. Not only is he a great coach, but more importantly, he is a man of integrity and with Christ-like character. He is a student of the game who is often studying game films and trying to improve his squad. If I had a daughter, I would be honored to have him as her coach." He was an NAIA Academic All American and was awarded New Comer of the Year. Evans graduated from Bryan in 1999 Cum Laude with a degree in Exercise Science. In 2005, Evans received a Masters in Administration from Lee University. Evans began his coaching career at Tennessee Christian Academy where he coached high school boys and girls basketball, girls basketball, and taught Spanish, Bible, Health, PE and was the Athletic Director. After teaching a year of Health and PE at Howard High, Coach Evans accepted the position as Head Boys Basketball coach at Cleveland Middle School. Over his 9 year stint as coach at CMS, Evans won 350 games and lost less than 50. His teams won 2 TVAC conference championships ('04, 06), with one of those teams going 60-1 over 3 years. He also added a James T Haile State Tournament Championship ('08). After the TVAC conference disbanded in '08, the 08-09 team ended a 3 year, 60-0 run. In 2004, Evans also led the CMS 7th grade girls volleyball team to a championship which helped him earn Coach of the Year at CMS. Just after the '04 season, Evans was the Director of Operations for the Cleveland Majic semi-pro basketball team. His responsibilities were preparation for game day events, pre, during, and post game entertainment, marketing and community events, as well as autograph signings and player appearances. In 2010, Coach Evans accepted the opportunity to become the assistant men's coach at Cleveland State Community College. His responsibilities included fund raising, recruiting, coordinating camps, and promoting community involvement. Evans is also the current director of Crossover Basketball, an organization that enables basketball players to play club basketball at little to no cost. Crossover holds tournaments, camps, and other events in addition to offering private lessons. Coach Evans created Crossover because he was unable to afford "AAU" basketball during his early playing years. It was then that the idea was born to create an avenue for players and families to play club basketball without having to worry about the financial responsibilities that come with it. Evans was saved at 6 years old and has enjoyed using basketball to change lives for Christ and mold young men! Evans is married to Diana, who played basketball at Cleveland State Community College and Bryan College. She claims to shoot better than her husband, but that is still up for debate! They have 5 children, Marisa(15), Raylee(10), Maguire(6), Daxton(3), and Zander(1). The Evans' 7 live in Cleveland and attend Candies Creek Baptist Church. Evans says, "I have heard great things about SBA and I'm excited to join the Silverdale family and take over the reins of the men's basketball program", and Al Rogers commented that "Randy is a great asset for Silverdale Baptist Academy. He has an obvious love for the Lord and excitement for molding young men into disciples of Christ. We are blessed with him becoming a part of our Athletic Program."
Lady Seahawks Softball | TSSAA State Softball Tournament 2012 The girls opened the state tournament on Tuesday, May 22 against Trinity Christian at 6:00pm EST. Trinity held a 2-0 lead through 5 1/2 innings before we tied it up in the bottom of the sixth. The tie wouldn't hold for long though as Trinity scored their last 3 runs in the 8th and held off our offense for the win in extra innings. The Lady Seahawks then met Moore County and racked up the runs quickly with a score of 10-0 through 3 innings. Moore Co. would slowly bridge the gap and pull within 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th but our Lady Seahawks would pull out a victory with a final score of 12-9. Game four was against our backyard rivals Grace Academy. It began as a pitcher's duel until Grace blew a single inning wide open, scoring the final of their 6 runs that would trump Silverdale's single run. Our ladies played a spectacular tournament, breaking so many school records and playing as a team, never giving up, through the back and forth of the scoreboard. We are proud of our 2012 Lady Seahawks for making it the Final Four! Game 1 Box Score (L 5-2) - Trinity Christian Game 2 Box Score (W 12-9) - Moore Co. Game 3 Box Score (W 15-13) - Forrest High School Game 4 Box Score (L 6-1) - Grace Academy
